Group for Parents of Difficult Children Combining Techniques and Support 8-sessionsWe all know that being responsible for children is not an easy task, particularly when we have children who are stubborn or oppositional. These children may have a disorder such as ADD / ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, an autism spectrum disorder, etc.; or they may just be overly rigid and strong-willed. In either case, this group focuses on strategies to improve the child’s behavior and provides an opportunity to discuss issues with other parents facing similar challenges. Each 1 ½ -hour session will include a presentation, describing specific techniques, followed by group discussion.
Who should attend:Parents with children who do not readily follow rules or do chores Parents with children who frequently argue or talk back Parents with children who have tantrums Parents who are willing to try something new Parents who would find it beneficial to discuss parenting challenges with other parents Topics will include: • Understanding the child’s difficult temperament • How the child’s personality affects the rest of the family • Why some “discipline styles” work better than others • Screamfree ways to get your child to listen • Key elements of the structured programs Collaborative Problem Solving, Love And Logic, and Behavior Management Training will be discussed
